PRIVATE RESIDENCE
AREA 255 m²
The semi-subterranean buildings comprise two independent residences with a total usable area of 200m², situated in an area of exceptional natural beauty on the island of Paros.
The plot, which formed the basis for the study, is characterized by a slope exceeding 20%, featuring terraces that create its amphitheatrical form. Within the site, a natural spring, a cistern, and a preserved wine press are maintained.
The residences are arranged across two distinct terraces.
Access to the residences is provided from the southern part of the plot.
The interiors of the residences are bathed in natural light and offer views of the settlement and harbor of Parikia.
The geological contours of the land, as delineated by the elevation lines, define the layout of the residences.
An effort was made to preserve and highlight the spring and cistern as imprints of the past. A linear water path begins at the spring and leads to the preserved cistern, forming a vertical water feature that connects the two residences.
The new infrastructures and uses coexist with the pre-existing elements, creating a cohesive ensemble of contemporary and traditional features.
The integration into the landscape is gentle and harmonious. Part of the architectural research included studying the transformation of the estate’s appearance throughout the seasons.
From the variety of mushroom species during the winter months to the arid imagery of yellows and ochres that dominate during the summer, the seasonal shifts enrich the site’s character and narrative.
